An Open Letter and Plea

Dear Etsy,
when I stumbled upon you, I fell in love with this place. Thousands of people all shared the same passion. All this time you were a home for the handmade, vintage and supplies. Please, don’t leave your biggest supporters out in the cold! You’re awesome as you are, stay true to yourself!

Dear fellow Etsians,
if you would like, you can join us! We don’t want to rock the boat, we just want to keep Etsy as it’s supposed to be: home for the handmade and vintage and supplies!

You can see more about it here!

Great initiative! I am impressed how many shops have joined. It is difficult to keep the original idea and integrity once a site grows, but ‘handmade vintage supplies’ is what we signed up for, not ‘mass produced reselling’.

So, far approx 2.200 shops signed up.
Also, customers consider Etsy as a platform for handmade goods. They come and shop there at the handmade section for handmade items not factory made ones.
This plea is not really just for the sellers’ interest but for the shoppers’ as well. Etsy still publicizes itself as follows :
“Buy and sell handmade or vintage items, art and supplies on Etsy, the world’s most vibrant handmade marketplace.” – copied from Google
Etsy should either change their motto or stand by it
