Maple Leaves and Bugs


This maple leaf was picked up in the garden of a monastery in Lorvão, Portugal. The bugs are the stylised version of the insect “Diaperis boleti”. You can find them around old tree stumps, decaying logs and  in the hollows of trees.
And since I am on the topic of bugs, I’ll bore you with some more details.  I forgot to mention earlier when I posted this picture …

… that this nice, shiny insect is called the “Crioceris 14-punctata”. It eats the leaf and berry of the asparagus and makes a chirpy noise.
